Location:

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RGIT) located in RT Nagar is at 15 to 20 minutes walking distance from the nearest bus stop of Hebbal. Though the college is well within city limits and quite a few buses ply to Hebbal, reaching here is not very convenient as it’s a somewhat far from the bus stop.
Infrastructure:
The campus is really small and there is a dental college, a hospital, an engineering college and hostels all in the same premises. So there’s no open space or garden or sport facilities of any sorts. However the academic infrastructure is pretty decent. The labs are well-equipped but many of the equipment are old, however they work well most of the time. The library is good. There is no Wi-Fi in college and wired internet which is accessible from labs is also not reliable.
Hostels are not in good condition. They’re unhygienic, hot water is rarely available and electricity goes off frequently, especially during exam time. The mess food is not that bad there’s no variety. Charges for hostel are 80,000 per year inclusive of mess.
Faculty:
Faculty of RGIT are good and it is probably the only good factor abut this college. Majority of the faculty are experienced. Mechanical has got the best teachers.
Attendance & Discipline:
The VTU norm is 75% but the college expects you to keep at least 85%. You can make up for the lack of attendance up to 60% by paying up fines of 1,000 per subject per 5% less. Below 60% you are assured of getting detained for the sem.
There are fines also for using mobiles in the campus. There is also a dress code – no round-necks and no slippers.
Crowd:
Half of the crowd is from North India while rest are from Karnataka and Kerala. Nerds are not uncommon here;you can find a lot of them.
Hangouts:
There are no hangouts in the radius of 2 km.
Canteen:
Canteen is very small but the food is decent. The best part is it is very reasonably priced.
Festivals:
There’s one intra-college festival held in April each year. It doesn’t have a fixed name as different department organises it each year.
Placements:
A few local, small-time companies do come for recruiting but hardly 4 – 5 students get selected. Even those appearing for placement can rarely make it.

Verdict:
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RGIT) isn’t a great college; students themselves rate it as 5/10 at the most and it is advisable to look for a better college.
